Vision Statement
[ Created 1997 ]
‘To create a centre in Orbost that will showcase the artistic talents of Orbost residents’.
Orbost Exhibition Centre on the Snowy River (OEC) has been fortunate to receive $100,000 from the Myer Foundation & the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR). The OEC has also been successful in attracting $ 1 million in State and Federal grants for the purpose of constructing and operating a high quality public exhibition, education and workshop space in Orbost.
There is a strong emphasis on wood products, in keeping with Orbost’s history as a timber production district. Specific purpose of the Orbost Exhibition Centre will be to house the Orbost National Collection of Wood Design and to host the Annual Australian wood Design Exhibition.
Further aims of the OEC are to facilitate the production, display and sale of local art, creative design and cultural performances and to provide education and support for local and visiting artists.
The OEC seeks the support and participation of community groups and members to help ensure that the organisation fulfils a broad community interest.
